§ Mr. HowardThe total value of imported nightwear in 1986 was £37.3 million. Children's nightwear is not separately identified in the overseas trade statistics.
The 1967 regulations, which remained in force until 28 February 1987, required only children's nightdresses to pass a fammability test. No information is available on the number of tests carried out by suppliers for assessing the flammability of the material or by local authority trading standards departments for enforcing the regulations.
