§ Mr. Rookerasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement regarding the calculation of the last day of service for redundant staff at the directorate general of defence quality assessment centre in Birmingham.
§ Mr. Archie HamiltonThe quality assurance centre, Birmingham, was closed on 31 March 1987. The plans for the diversion of work and dispersal of equipment had been based on the cessation of work on that date and no work was possible at the centre after that date. Since no suitable employment could be found for the staff elsewhere, there last day of service had to be 31 March 1987.
