HC Deb 23 April 1987 vol 114 c691W
19. Mr. Campbell-Savours

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the future operation of hill livestock compensatory allowances in the United Kingdom in the light of discussions in the Council of Ministers.

Mr. Gummer

The normal autumn review of economic conditions in the hills and uplands later this year will as necessary take account of the various decisions of the Council including the new options regarding the operation of the hill livestock compensatory allowances. As our recent policy document "Farming UK" makes clear, the Government will continue to provide appropriate support to meet the special needs of the hills and uplands.
