HC Deb 22 April 1987 vol 114 c580W
Mr. Mallon

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the incidence of brucellosis and tuberculosis in cattle in (a) South Armagh and (b) other parts of Northern Ireland.

Mr. Viggers

At present there are no cattle herds in Northern Ireland under restriction for brucellosis.

Incidence of bovine tuberculosis in Northern Ireland is at a very low level, on average 1.35 per cent. of herds. The incidence in the divisional veterinary office areas, which include South Armagh, is slightly lower at between 1.14 per cent. and 1.17 per cent.
