Mr. Sheerman

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) what, on the basis of present local authority plans for tertiary education, are the Department's estimates of the effect on the number of places taken up in traditional sixth forms;

(2) what effect the introduction of tertiary colleges has had on the number of places taken up in conventional sixth form provision over the last seven years.
