§ Mr. Dewarasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many qualified interpreters for the deaf there are in Scotland; and how many of these hold the Certificate in Communication with the Deaf as a result of attendance at the course run at Moray House college of education.
§ Mr. Rifkind[pursuant to his reply, 9 April 1987]: Information of this kind is not held centrally, but my Department has ascertained that there are 16 interpreters on a register maintained by the Scottish Association of Interpreters for the Deaf, 10 of whom qualified through the Moray House course, and that there are 14 trainees currently working towards assessment.
