§ Mr. Meadowcroftasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will make it his policy to ensure that facilities for convalescent patients at the Grove hospital, Leeds are maintained; and if he will make a statement;
(2) if he will make a statement on the future of National Health Service convalescent care within the Leeds West health authority.
§ Mr. NewtonThe level and extent of provision of beds for convalescence is a matter for individual health authorities. The hon. Member may therefore wish to contact the chairman of Leeds western health authority about convalescent care in Leeds western district health authority in general, and specifically provision at the Grove hospital, Leeds. Any proposals to change the current level of provision would require full public consultation in the usual way.
