HC Deb 09 April 1987 vol 114 cc413-4W
Mr. Alton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many patients are currently undergoing kidney dialysis treatment on Merseyside; how many patients are on the waiting list; and what is the longest period of time which has elapsed since any of the outstanding cases were referred for dialysis treatment.

Mrs. Currie

[pursuant to her reply, 25 March 1987, c. 210]: Information in the form requested is not available centrally. The latest data available to the Department are supplied by the European Dialysis and Transplant Association. These show that at the end of December 1985 there were 229 patients on haemodialysis in the Mersey region. Currently, all demand for dialysis treatment in the region is being met and the regional health authority expects to keep pace with that demand in the future.
