HC Deb 09 April 1987 vol 114 c390W
Mr. Corbyn

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many families were in bed-and-breakfast accommodation in each borough in London in March 1987; and what are the equivalent figures for 1986 and 1985 respectively.

Mr. Tracey

The statistical publication "Local authorities' action under the homelessness provisions of the 1985 Housing Act: England—Results for the fourth quarter 1986", which is to be published on 10 April, will include in table 7 the numbers, reported to this Department by the boroughs, of the households in bed-and-breakfast accommodation at the end of December: copy will be placed in the Library.

Figures for December 1984 and December 1985 appear in corresponding publications for the second half of 1984 and the fourth quarter of 1985, respectively: these are available in the Library. Since publication of those reports, the following late returns have been received:

  • Brent—677 December 1984
  • Lambeth—98 December 1984 and 173 December 1985
  • Merton—7 December 1985

In addition, the number at December 1985 for Haringey has been revised to 195.
