§ Mr. Peter Bruinvelsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis as to the number of police engaged in wheel-clamping duties.
§ Mr. Douglas HoggA maximum of 14 police constables supervise wheel clamping units from Mondays to Fridays, while six constables are deployed on such duties on Saturdays. In addition, the inspector, sergeant and six constables at the Hyde Park car pound spend a proportion of their time on duties arising from wheel clamping as does the chief inspector in charge.
