HL Deb 08 April 1987 vol 486 c1107WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, as a member Government of NATO, they have enquired whether General Galvin, its new Supreme Commander in Europe, has been in any way associated with recent United States actions in Central America (which came within his former military command) and whether they are fully satisfied that he has not.

Lord Trefgarne

General Galvin has had an outstanding military career in many appointments, including NATO. His appointment as SACEUR was unanimously approved by the DPC. We are confident that he will be a very able successor to General Rogers.
