§ Mr. Meadowcroftasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what further measures he will take to stimulate greater use of lead-free petrol.
§ Mr. WaldegraveThe Department continues to promote unleaded petrol by measures designed to increase public awareness, to stimulate demand, and to ensure general availability by 1988. Unleaded petrol is already sold at over 200 stations throughout the United Kingdom. My right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer's Budget has now removed the price barrier for the motorist. I expect this to stimulate both the use and the availability of unleaded petrol.
