HC Deb 02 April 1987 vol 113 cc559-60W
Mr. Simon Hughes

asked the Paymaster General what percentage of people trained under YTS in 1986 completed their course with a nationally recognised qualification.

Mr. Trippier

The information is not available in the form requested. Of those respondents to the Manpower Services Commission's regular follow-up survey of leavers who completed a one-year YTS training programme in the period April to August 1986, 32 per cent. reported that they had gained a nationally recognised qualification whilst on YTS. Under two-year YTS, which began in April 1986, it is intended that all trainees should be given the chance to gain such a qualification.
