HC Deb 02 April 1987 vol 113 cc566-7W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will publish detailed local figures of the amount of rainfall in Gwynedd on Friday 2 May 1986; and if he will make a statement on the degree of statistical accuracy of such meteorological information.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

Rainfall measurements at some 40 observation points in Gwynedd between 0900 2 May and 0900 3 May 1986 ranged from 0 to 6.3 mm, the smaller amounts being mainly in the coastal areas and the larger ones in Anglesea and Snowdonia. Because of the showery nature of the rainfall, it is possible that even heavier falls occurred in localities not adequately covered by rain gauges.
