Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Paymaster General if he will publish the preliminary results of his study into the reallocation of responsibility for benefits for the unemployed.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

[pursuant to his reply, 26 March 1987, c. 241]: No. The preliminary report of the joint study team on the relationships between DHSS and the Department of Employment and their networks of local offices was produced as advice for Ministers.

Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Paymaster General if he is investigating the feasibility of imposing any new work test or conditions for the payment of unemployment benefit.
