HC Deb 29 October 1986 vol 103 c165W
17. Mr. Garrett

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what action has been taken over the past three months in relation to the problems in the Turks and Caicos Islands; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Eggar

There is little I can add to the statement that I made to the House on 25 July. The constitutional commission under Sir Roy Marshall is expected to conclude its review by the end of the year.

A separate commission of inquiry under Mr. Louis Blom-Cooper was appointed by the Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands on 24 September to investigate allegations about irregularities in the transfer of Crown land in 1983. Mr. Louis Blom-Cooper has already begun his investigations.
