§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has any proposals for changing the procedures for investigating senior police officers, following the reinstatement of Mr. John Stalker as deputy chief constable of Greater Manchester; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. HurdI have asked for observations from those principally concerned with the investigation of the allegations against Mr. Stalker. When I have received these I shall consider whether there are any lessons to be learnt for the investigation of future allegations against senior police officers and whether any amendment of the relevant regulations is desirable.
