§ Mr. Allen Adamsasked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if any chairs of medicine will be located in the Argyll and Clyde health board area when the new general hospital in Paisley opens;
(2) what is his policy regarding chairs of medicine in the West of Scotland continuing to be based in Glasgow.
§ Mr. John MacKayThe location of chairs of medicine is a matter for the relevant university, responsibility for which lies with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science. I am not aware, however, of any proposal to site a professorial chair at the Royal Alexandra hospital.
