§ Mr. Peter BottomleyFor the majority of road proposals the public inquiry system works well. Most inquiries last less than 14 days. A few are lengthy and this is a matter for concern. Procedures are kept under review. Suggestions for change are given careful consideration. The scope for change is limited by the Government's concern to safeguard the rights of objectors.
