§ Mr. LyellThe city of Dundee is covered by two of the Department's offices, Dundee east and Dundee west, but their boundaries are not conterminous with those of the city. The numbers of people receiving supplementary benefit from those offices on 13 August 1986, the latest available figures, were as follows:

§ Mr. Frank Fieldasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will estimate the number of pensioners who would now qualify for supplementary benefits if it were not for the payment of occupational pensions.
§ Mr. MajorThe best estimate which we can give, based on information from the family expenditure survey, is that in 1984 some 1.1 million pensioners would have qualified for supplementary pension if they had not been in receipt of an occupational pension.
