HL Deb 27 October 1986 vol 481 c596WA
Lord Burton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is the case that the whole of Inverness Borough sewage is discharged untreated into the Firth and that the position will be made worse by the building of 600 additional houses there in the near future: if so, when this situation will be remedied and steps taken to halt further developments in the meantime.

The Lord Advocate (Lord Cameron of Lochbroom)

I understand that, although sewage from Inverness is at present discharged untreated, Highland Regional Council is considering how and when to make improvements. Decisions on further development fall to be taken locally.
