HL Deb 06 October 1986 vol 480 c110WA
Lord Monson

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are fully satisfied that no female car driver or front seat passenger is at long-term risk from the cumulative chafing effect, even under normal motoring conditions, of the diagonal strap of the average inertia reel seat belt.

Lord Brabazon of Tara

Yes. The British Medical Association and the Medical Commission on Accident Prevention are of the opinion that there is no risk whatsoever.
