HL Deb 26 November 1986 vol 482 c634WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the Republic of Ireland has yet ratified the European Convention on the Repatriation of Prisoners, and if not, when it is expected to do so.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Young)

The Republic of Ireland signed the Council of Europe Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons on the 20th August 1986 but has not yet ratified it. A decision on ratification is a matter for the Government of the Republic of Ireland.
