§ Mrs. ChalkerOur policy is to press for the early and peaceful implementation of the United Nations plan for Namibian independence, as endorsed by United Nations Security Council resolution 435. This forms the only universally accepted basis for a settlement. We continue to support United States and United Nations negotiations towards such a settlement.
