HC Deb 24 November 1986 vol 106 cc31-2W
Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on his policy towards the provision of resources for children with special educational needs in Wales.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

The provision of resources for the education of children with special educational needs is a matter for local education authorities. They receive help in meeting these needs through the rate support grant.

Help is also available through a specific direction of resources, via education Support Grants; these are for the provision of microelectronic equipment and computerised learning aids.

Resources are also provided centrally for a project which is establishing the requirements of children with special educational needs when they are integrated into ordinary schools.
