§ Mr. McLoughlinasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will publish a table showing the figures for milk production within each country in the European Community over the last 10 years and another table giving details of the consumption of milk in each of those countries during the same period.
§ Mr. GummerUsable production of wholemilk for 1982–84 for each member of the European Community 10 is given on page 92 of the fourth quarter 1985 edition of "animal production" (Eurostat), a copy of which is available in the Library of the House. Page 68 of the same publication also gives figures for cows milk collected for 61W 1982–85. Data for earlier years are given in previous editions. Because milk is consumed as a range of products, in which the butterfat and solids-not-fat proportions are different from those in whole milk, it is not meaningful to produce a single figure for each country of milk consumption to compare with production. However, pages 95–103 of the Eurostat publication give usable production and human consumption of drinking milk and the major milk products for 1981–84.
