HC Deb 24 November 1986 vol 106 cc96-7W
Mr. Dubs

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many people are awaiting admission for each speciality at each hospital in Wandsworth; and what were the comparable figures for 1983, 1984 and 1985.

Mr. Newton

I refer the hon. Member to the reply given to him by my hon. Friend the Member for Wycombe (Mr. Whitney) on 25 July at columns722–724.

Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give for each year since 1970 and for each region the in-patient waiting list at 31 December.

Mr. Newton

The information requested is given in the table. However, the waiting list figures are generally at a seasonal peak at 31 December. The March and September figures give a better indication of trends in the demand for hospital in-patient treatment.

1 Figures prior to 1974 relate to Regional Health Boards and Boards of Governors. Because of NHS restructuring in 1974 and 1982 the regional figures are not strictly comparable over the whole period.

Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will give the number of people on in-patient waiting lists every six months since 30 September 1982 for (a) each district health authority and special health authority in Greater London, (b) the health authorities in Greater London added together and (c) the health authorities in inner London added together;

(2) if he will give the number of people on the waiting lists for acute surgery every six months since 30 September 1982 for (a) each district health authority and special health authority in Greater London, (b) the health authorities in Greater London added together and (c) the health authorities in inner London added together.

Mr. Newton

For information from 30 September 1982 to 30 September 1985, I refer the hon. Member to the reply given to him by my hon. Friend the Member for Wycombe (Mr. Whitney) on 25 July at columns723–28. The position at 31 March 1986 for Greater London, Inner London and individual health authorities is given in national, regional and district waiting list figures for 31 March 1986, copies of which I have placed in the Library. Greater and Inner London are identified in the booklet. The summaries for Greater London and inner London are on pages 17 and 18 respectively.
