Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the hospitals approved for complete closure since 1 January 1985 giving for each the health district, health region, number of beds and date approved.

Not all proposed closures of hospitals or proposed significant partial permanent closures require the approval of my right hon. Friend. Most proposed closures are agreed locally, without reference to Ministers.
