HC Deb 24 November 1986 vol 106 cc72-3W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has as to how many bus routes in London have been put out to competitive tender by London Regional Transport.

Mr. David Mitchell

Sixty-six.

Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has as to financial savings made by London Regional Transport from bus routes tendering in 1985–86 and 1986–87.

Mr. David Mitchell

The latest information that I have is for tendered routes operating up to 31 August 1986. For 41 tendered routes where a direct comparison can be made with former London Buses routes, the total contract prices including the administrative cost to LRT of tendering is some £4 million less than the fully allocated cost to London Buses Ltd before tendering.
