§ Mr. Greenwayasked the Minister for the Arts if he will make a statement on the outcome of the meeting of the European Community Ministers of Culture held on 13 November.
§ Mr. LuceI am pleased to report that a meeting of Ministers responsible for culture affairs within the European Community took place on 13 November under my chairmanship. We had a useful exchange of views over a range of cultural issues, and reached agreement on four resolutions. These encourage interest in, and Community co-operation on, business sponsorship of the arts, the conservation of works of art, the protection of the architectural heritage of Europe, and European Cinema and Television Year 1988. I was delighted that my European colleagues also warmly endorsed the United Kingdom nomination of Glasgow as the "European City of Culture" in 1990.
