§ Mr. MellorThe number of television licences in force stands at an all-time record level of nearly 19 million; 300,000 more than at the same time last year. This reflects increased effectiveness by the Post Office in BRL work. The arrangements for financing the BBC, including the future of the licence fee and how it is collected, are currently under review in the light of the report of the Peacock committee, debated by this House yesterday.
