§ 40. Mr. Fisherasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the report of the interdepartmental working party on criminal injuries compensation.
§ Mr. MellorThe report was published on 6 November. As my right hon. Friend announced then at c. 539, the Government consider that the criminal injuries compensation scheme ought now to be put on to a statutory basis broadly as recommended by the working party. Our proposals are contained in the Criminal Justice Bill which is now before this House.
