§ Mr. Humeasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement outlining the guidelines regarding the design or construction of polling booths and their distribution.
Mr. HoggThe distribution of polling booths at parliamentary, European Parliament and local government elections in the United Kingdom is a matter for the returning officer, who is required to provide each polling station with sufficient compartments to enable the electorate to cast their votes in secret. The official guidelines on the design and construction of such compartments are contained in Home Office circulars RPA 214, 219 and 269, copies of which have been placed in the Library.
