§ Mr. TraceyUnder the urban programme management initiative introduced last year, local authorities have to provide the department with annual reports on the achievements of their inner area programmes, including quantitative and qualitative outputs as well as outturn expenditure. Expenditure projections are provided after six and nine months of the financial year. There is a sample240W monitoring exercise each year in which departmental officials examine selected projects in each partnership and programme authority. Projects in Leicester were last visited under these arrangements in December 1985. Leicester's first annual report under the UP M (on 1985-86) is expected shortly.
