asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many applications have been received for urban regeneration grants; what is the total value; and how many he expects to approve in the current financial year.

Part III of the Housing Planning Act 1986, which will be the authority for the payment of urban regeneration grant, has not yet been brought into force. I cannot predict the flow of applications and approvals. Provision for preliminary expenditure in the current financial year has been made in section D of Vote X, 3.
