asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement concerning the role of the tri-national Tornado training establishment at RAF Cottesmore.

The role of the tri-national Tornado training establishment at RAF Cottesmore is to provide training for Tornado crews from the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy, and other nations as appropriate.

asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether any of the RAF training commitment at the TTTE RAF Cottesmore have been diverted to training non-North Atlantic Treaty Organisation pilots and navigators.

Mr. Freeman

The RAF training programme has been modified to allow a small number of non-North Atlantic Treaty Organisation pilots and navigators to be trained on the Tornado, by agreement with Germany and Italy. None are currently being trained.
