HC Deb 17 November 1986 vol 105 c54W
Mr. Norman Hogg

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he expects to announce the line of the M80 between Stepps and Haggs; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ancram

In line with new procedures introduced by the Scottish Development Department earlier this year for the appraisal of major road schemes, environmental consultants have been appointed to assess the effects of the route options for the proposed motorway. Reports are expected to be available about the end of this year, and my right hon. and learned Friend hopes to be in a position to select a line and publish draft orders soon thereafter.

Mr. Norman Hogg

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many representations he has received favouring a line of route for the M80 through the Kelvin valley; and how many favouring the upgrading of the A80 between Stepps and Haggs.

Mr. Ancram

While the Scottish Development Department has exchanged information with numerous individuals, councils and organisations who would be affected by the routes being considered for the M80 between Stepps and Haggs, no representations in favour of one route or another have so far been received.
