Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what was the total number of people out of work in (a) Wales and (b) Alyn and Deeside for the last year for which figures are available; and what proportion of these are (i) under 25 years old, (ii) 25 to 40 years old and (iii) 41 to 60 years old.

The Government's specific and comprehensive programme of measures to help the long-term unemployed is focused on the restart programme and includes the community programme, the voluntary projects programme, the enterprise allowance scheme, as well as job-clubs and training course. All these have a proven record in helping people back into work.
