asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many areas have been listed as special protection areas in Northern Ireland under article 4 of the European Community directive 79/409 on the conservation of wild birds; and how many additional areas in the Province have been identified as meeting criteria for listing under the directive.

One area has been listed; Lough Neagh-Lough Beg. Two additional areas have been identified; Lough Foyle and Strangford Lough.
