Mr. Stephen Ross

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis about allegations of corruption involving certain officers of the Metropolitan police and Mr. Roy Garner and others; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis has appointed the chief constable of South Yorkshire, Mr. Peter Wright, to investigate these allegations. The investigation will be supervised by the Police Complaints Authority, which has approved Mr. Wright's appointment.
