HC Deb 06 November 1986 vol 103 c497W
Mrs. Dunwoody

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what information he has as to the annual capital and revenue costs of maintaining and staffing the Marbury primary school for 1979–80, 1980–81, 1981–82, 1982–83, 1983–84 and 1985–86, and as to the capital and revenue funding for these years received from the local education authority and from his Department, respectively.

Mr. Dunn

The annual revenue costs since 1979–80 were as follows:

£
1979–80 21,840
1980–81 28,987
1981–82 31,847
1982–83 36,491
1983–84 35,416
1984–85 41,044
1985–86 38,416

These costs were met by Cheshire LEA: the DES does not make direct payments to schools. There were no capital costs in the years shown above.

Mrs. Dunwoody

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he has any information about the cost savings that will result from the closure of Marbury primary school at the end of the current year.

Mr. Dunn

If the proposal to close Marbury primary school is approved, the Cheshire LEA expects to make the following savings over the next four financial years:

Year £
11987–88 6,083
1988–89 22,945
1989–90 33,850
1990–91 38,044
1 (part year)
