HC Deb 06 November 1986 vol 103 c544W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will raise at the next meeting of the Council of Ministers reports that the French customs authorities have given details to protestors regarding the import of British lamb; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Gummer

We have no evidence to support these reports. The French authorities have assured us that they are doing everything possible to prevent incidents involving interference with British lamb and have undertaken to pay compensation. We are, however, continuing to monitor the lamb trade most carefully and will not hesitate to press the French Government once more if consignments suffer unreasonable delay or interference.
