HC Deb 06 November 1986 vol 103 cc596-7W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what are the estimated fees for the rehabilitation work on the cardiac block of Great Ormond street hospital; and to whom they have been paid or are to be paid;

(2) what fees have been paid or incurred to date, respectively, to counsel, solicitors and expert witnesses in the current litigation about the cardiac block at Great Ormond street hospital.

Mrs. Currie

I shall write to the hon. Member.

Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what is the estimated cost of equipment for the cardiac block at Great Ormond street hospital;

(2) what happened to the equipment valued at £1.84 million originally bought for the cardiac block at Great Ormond street hospital; and how much of it is included in the estimated cost of equipment for the rehabilitated block.

Mrs. Currie

Items of equipment originally bought for the cardiac block at Great Ormond street hospital have either been redeployed elsewhere in the NHS or stored for use in the rehabilitated cardiac block. Additional equipment is now being purchased for the rehabilitation block at an estimated cost of £2.5 million, this sum being offset by approximately £450,000 received in respect of equipment sold. Expenditure of about £350,000 has been incurred in respect of costs associated with storage, testing and installation of the equipment originally purchased.
