Sir Peter Hordern

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will publish a table setting out the proportion of average income of a married couple with two children taken up by average local authority rates in 1956, 1960, 1970, 1975, 1980 and the latest date for which figures are available;

(2) if he will publish a table setting out the proportion of average income of a married couple with two children, taken up by average council house rents in 1956, 1960, 1970, 1975, 1980, and the latest date for which figures are available.

The following are the available estimates of income and of rent and rates due on local authority dwellings occupied by households comprising a man, a woman and two children.
