HC Deb 06 November 1986 vol 103 c480W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Prime Minister if she will take steps to ensure that Ministers reporting to the House on the outcome of European Economic Community Council meetings continue to do so by a full statement in the Official Report rather than by referring to press statements.

The Prime Minister

It is for Ministers attending each Council to decide how best to inform Parliament of the results. I would expect that they would normally find that a full statement in theOfficial Report is the most appropriate way of doing this. Different arrangements may, however, be appropriate for Councils which take place during the recess—as was the case in the instance which I understand the hon. Member has in mind.
