HC Deb 06 November 1986 vol 103 cc567-8W
Mr. Martin

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if the Greater Glasgow health board has any plans to improve the fire escape provisions for all geriatric wards at Duke Street hospital; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if the Greater Glasgow health board has any plans to upgrade those geriatric wards at Duke Street hospital which are currently classed as unsuitable for nurse training to the standards required by the body responsible for nurse training; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John MacKay

I understand that the Greater Glasgow health board has approved a scheme for the upgrading of the fire escapes at Duke Street hospital to bring them up to reasonable standards, together with other minor upgrading measures. Further decisions concerning the hospital will await the outcome of the board's strategic review of geriatric services which is expected to be completed early in the new year.
