asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when he next expects to meet the Building Societies Association to discuss the operation of the Building Societies Act 1986; and if he will make a statement.

I refer the hon. Member to my reply earlier today to my hon. Friend the Member for Brentwood and Ongar (Mr. McCrindle). My right hon. Friend has no present plans to meet the Building Societies Association.
