§ Mr. ChopeThe Secretary of States proposals for the 1987–88 rate support grant settlement were set out in his consultation paper issued on 3 October, copies of which are in the Library. By comparison with the 1986–87 settlement, substantial increases are proposed in the provision for local authority expenditure, and in the 383W aggregate amount available for grant. A number of changes in the method of distributing grant are also proposed.
