§ Mr. Gareth Wardellasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) if he will rank in ascending order by his country the number of weekly hours of reading time for each of the age groups (i) 15 to 24, (ii) 25 to 34, (iii) 35 to 44, (iv) 45 to 54, (v) 55 to 64 and (vi) 65 years and over in those Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development countries for which he has information;
(2) if he will rank in ascending order by country the total number of weekly hours of reading time in those Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development countries for which he has information;
(3) what information his Department holds on the incidence of functional illiteracy by age group for the British population.
