§ Mr. Peter Bruinvelsasked the Attorney-General what change is proposed for the 1986–87 running costs limit for the Land Registry.
§ The Attorney-GeneralSubject to parliamentary approval of the necessary Supplementary Estimates, the running costs limit for the Land Registry will be increased by £1,835,000 from £82,840,000 to £84,675,000. Almost all the increase is required for temporary staff and overtime costs because the number of applications for registration in 1986–87 is now expected to reach 2,521,000, which exceeds the total originally anticipated, 2,292,000, by over 9 per cent. The increased running costs will be fully offset by the extra fee revenue that the greater workload will generate. No net additional public expenditure is therefore involved.
